As first time managers you have to wear a lot of dissimilar hats when first starting out. But, as you grow, you rapidly find that you go beyond not only your minds available bandwidth, but also your skills. At some point, it's time to get additional help - maybe an occasional freelancer, maybe some part-time help, and sooner or later full-time employees.

For many managers, the first time they hire an employee is also the first time they're managing people, not just job goals. If you're facing that test, here are five critical factors that will guide you to successful people management.

...did anyone do it for this article? I counted 20 grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors all told. A shame considering this topic is very popular and interesting, and is no doubt going to get a lot of hits. I would have liked to have been able to take it seriously, but with all the mistakes combined with poor writing skills on the part of the author it did little to educate or enlighten me.
